- a little more about me & my love story -

Welcome to Woven Weddings and thank you so much for being here! Although my website has a few details about me, this post is to introduce myself further and share more of my own love story.

I grew up in Woodinville, WA, I am married to the most amazing person in the world, and I have one child - my dog, Brooklyn. Family and friends are the most important thing in my life and I am fortunate to have an amazing community in the Seattle and Woodinville area. Travel, adventure and being outside were huge parts of my childhood that have shaped who I am today. I have two younger siblings and the most generous parents ever - my dad is an attorney and my mom is an artist. In high school, I almost decided to go to art school instead of a traditional college and art has always been a passion of mine.

I have always been the “planner” in the group and found myself organizing prom groups, fundraisers, summer art camps and more throughout my life. People close to me would often tell me I would be a great event planner, but it wasn’t until my own wedding that I took them seriously.

Which brings me to the love story part of this post. I first met my husband, Tom, at a college party when we were both 20 years old. I was a sophomore at the University of Washington at the time and Tom was a few years into his contract with the army and stationed at JBLM. Tom and his friends left base for a night in search of fun parties in Seattle and happened to walk into a party thrown by my friends.

One of the first things Tom told me was, “you’re beautiful,” which got him an eye roll and started a friendship. After a few months of spending time as friends, with Tom consistently hinting that he only had eyes for me, we went on a date. The night ended with ice cream from Molly Moon’s and our first kiss on our special bench.

Exploring Barcelona when Tom visited me in Spain, we were such babies!

After a few months of summer love, I left Seattle to study abroad in Spain for 5 months. Tom and I talked everyday and he visited Spain for a week near the end of my trip. Sadly, we only had a few short months together before Tom had to leave for an 8 month deployment. Once again, Tom called or Facetimed me everyday and our love and bond grew even stronger. All this time apart really showed us that distance makes the heart grow fonder. We knew early on we were meant to be together but now we knew that nothing could tear us apart.

Finally home after 8 months apart!

The day Tom got home from deployment was one of the best days of my life. Only to be topped by him proposing on our special bench a few months later and then our wedding day a year and a half after that.

Our first year of marriage was full of joy but not without its challenges - we experienced loss, unemployment, a broken bone and a global pandemic. But the silver lining has been all the time we have gotten to spend together and the ways we have constantly shown each other that we will always be there.

Planning my own wedding was what led me to starting my own business, I had so much fun meeting vendors, thinking over the little details, and designing our perfect celebration. That is why I am so excited to learn more about your love story and help you celebrate the start of your adventure together!

Thanks for reading!
